Postpartum Anxiety After Having a Second Child: Why it was so Hard to Recognize the Second Time with Tori Levine
Show Notes

After having my second child  I didn’t recognize my postpartum anxiety because it was completely different than the worries I had with my first. I even remember telling my general practitioner that my anxiety was way less than the first time (boy was I wrong)!

I didn’t realize or acknowledge that postpartum anxiety could be manifesting itself in feelings of failure, lack of feeling connected to the baby, feelings of anger and rage, and feeling like my family would be better off without me because I was just adding to the people my husband had to take care of.

I felt like if I was spending time with the baby, I was being a terrible mom to my older son and vice versa. I felt like being a good parent to one child meant I was being a bad parent to the other. I would get scared because I thought to myself (many many times) that we never should have had a second child because I was incapable of being a good mom to either of them now.

Listen and hear more about my second pregnancy experience, postpartum anxiety, treatment, and a wrap up of the past three shows where general anxiety, postpartum anxiety, and parenting a child with a chronic illness are all discussed.
